Yellow jasmine or woody jasmine is part of the Oleaceae family. This 2 m high shrub, native to the Mediterranean region and Asia, flowers from the beginning of summer.
It symbolizes grace and elegance. The jasmine family, known above all for its white or yellow flowers which are fragrant as desired, comes in 200 species.
Its name, which derives from the word yasmin, is a mixture of Arabic and Persian.
Originally from India, white jasmine has been known since the pharaohs as a perfume plant, while yellow jasmine or winter jasmine was introduced from China in 1844.
