Melitaea didyma
Commonly called orange melitte or orange checkerboard, Melitaea didyma has a distribution stretching from North Africa to Russia and northern China, via Europe.
With a wingspan of 18 to 21 mm, this species is found in meadows, mainly foraging on plantains, toadflax and speedwells.
The insect can rise in altitude up to 2,500 m.
Its flight period is from May to September and its reproduction can last three generations.
