The 30th anniversary of independence and Youth Day saw Algeria enter a new era on the institutional, political, economic and social levels. After three intense decades of construction dedicated to the establishment of industrial and economic structures, as well as the creation of social protection, education and health systems, it was natural that the progress made by the country, combined with the changes recorded in the world, would induce significant changes in the way in which Algeria would continue its journey and its trajectory of development and development of its resources.
Material progress, the improvement in the level of health and education, the raising of socio-cultural aspirations have made it possible, after thirty years of independence, to generate new needs in the sense of a greater desire of the national community to take greater control of its destiny and to better contribute to the creation of wealth and the increased mobilization of its potential.
This change in Algerian society has resulted, at the political and institutional level, in the emergence of pluralism and the strengthening of its expression with the creation of parties and their active participation in public and political life through numerous elections.
On the economic side, the new orientation established the desire to build a market economy combining both performance in the creation of value and concern for social justice. However, the changes observed also led to difficulties due to the plural and new issues that were emerging within Algerian society.
This is why the 30th anniversary was marked by significant economic, social and institutional adjustments which the national community was able to cope with. Neither adversity, nor insecurity, nor the international context and its hazards towards Algeria have been able to call into question the thirty years of sovereignty and independence and even less call into question its determination to build a future for all its children in dignity and progress.
