Flora
Chengoura is a perennial plant, with herbaceous stems of 5 to 15 cm, thick, densely leafy, bristling with soft hairs and linear, elongated, spreading, entire or toothed leaves (2 to 4 teeth).
Its flowers, generally shorter than the leaves, are pink, white or yellowish with a broad terminal lobe, solitary or in pairs.
They appear almost from the base, from March to August. The seeds are oblong, with a very large hilum and finely reticulated.
It is very common in stony and dry places in the coastal zone and in poor fields.
Bugle has a bitter and resinous flavor as well as a strong smell similar to musk. It plays a large role in popular medicine as a diuretic and diaphoretic remedy and is used against rheumatic and arthritic conditions.
It is tonic and antispasmodic.
