Orchis simia lam
The orchid family is represented in Algeria by around thirty species, all terrestrial. They are first of all botanical curiosities, somewhat used in traditional medicine and which may be of horticultural interest.
It should be noted that the entire orchid family is threatened with disappearance from the planet either by the hand of man or by natural phenomena (climate variation, sterility). It is therefore absolutely necessary to take protection and conservation measures.
Yellow Ophrys Ophrys lutea cav This is the most common of its kind. It is found everywhere in Algeria on the hills and at the foot of the coastal mountains between 50 and 300 m above sea level. Trilobed lip, brown with wide yellow edges, bilobed design, lip vase with sharp and hairy notch. Flowering in March-April, basic soils. It is often found with Orchis simia lam.
