Mansourah Mosque in Tlemcen
The Mansourah Mosque (جامع المنصورة in Arabic) is a mosque located in Mansourah, a commune in the wilaya of Tlemcen in Algeria, built in the 14th century. It is classified among the historic sites and monuments.
According to Ibn Khaldoun, the Mansourah mosque was built around 1303 by Sultan Abu Yaqub Yusuf an-Nasr, who died before his work was completed. The death of the sovereign having been immediately followed by the evacuation of Mansourah by the Marinids, the work would not have resumed until 1336 at the time of their return when Abu al-Hasan ben Uthman rebuilt the city. According to the (Musnad as-sahid al-hasan fi maʿathir mawlana Abi 'l Hasan), of Ibn Marzouk, the mosque, like that of Hassan in Rabat, was never completely completed. Only the perimeter of its walls and the front half of its minaret remain standing.
