Civil Protection is a public State service based on the notion of human solidarity, acting within the national and international framework. The general mission of Civil Protection is to ensure the protection of people and property under the triple sign of prevention, forecasting and intervention.
The evolving nature of Civil Protection missions has been linked to the different stages of the level of economic and social development of our country. This institution has always adapted its administrative and operational organization to ensure effective management of the general protection mission.
The rescue and relief of human lives, the prevention of natural or technological risks, the reduction of their effects on people and property are the main axes of the operational activity of Civil Protection. The scope of intervention of Civil Protection includes the following areas:
- security in an urban environment against various risks;
- security checks in establishments open to the public;
- interventions in the event of an accident, explosion and fire in an industrial environment;
- safety in the transport of dangerous products;
- beach and swimming surveillance campaigns;
- prevention and intervention in the domestic environment;
- medical transport;
- road first aid;
- the search for lost people in the South;
- interventions during natural and major disasters: earthquakes, floods, storms, violent winds, etc.;
- underwater diving and maritime rescue;
- aerial search and rescue.
