50th anniversary of Unicef
The United Nations Children's Fund, generally referred to by the acronym UNICEFa (also typographically Unicef is an agency of the United Nations (UN) dedicated to the improvement and promotion of the condition of children. When it was created on December 11, 19462, its name was originally United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund), of which it retained the acronym during from the adoption of its current name in 1953, when it became a permanent organ of the United Nations system.
