Ghardaïa (in Berber: ⵜⴰⵖⵔⴷⴰⵢⵜ Taɣerdayt; in Arabic: غرداية) is a commune in the wilaya of Ghardaïa in Algeria, of which it is the capital, located 600 km south of Algiers, it is the capital of the Mzab valley.
Ghardaïa is part of the world heritage and is considered a tourist site of major importance in Algeria, due to its architecture and its history. Founded in the 11th century by the Ibadites, it is the main city of the Mzab pentapolis.
