World Post Day
World Post Day is celebrated on October 9 each year, the anniversary of the creation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern, capital of Switzerland, in 1874. This day was declared World Post Day during the 1969 Tokyo Congress.
Since that date, countries around the world have celebrated this event together from one year to the next. Posts in many countries are taking the opportunity to launch or promote new postal products and services. EMS (Express Mail Service) or international expedited mail is a service offered to the public for mail delivery. Organized by the Post and Telecommunications Administration, this formula makes it possible to send and receive all postal items within extremely short deadlines.
The EMS service meets the needs of postal users, particularly businesses, banks, insurance companies and economic enterprises wishing to send documents and goods up to a limit of 20 kg by the fastest means. EMS shipments are processed separately from regular mail and shipped via the fastest air routes.
EMS is carried out by around a hundred post offices across the national territory where it is indicated by a particular sign. The EMS service operates in relations with the continents: Africa, Asia, Americas and Europe, i.e. 65 countries.
