World No Tobacco Day
On May 31 each year, World No Tobacco Day is celebrated internationally. This year, the World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to place this day under the theme “United for a tobacco-free world”. Throughout the world and especially in non-industrialized countries like Algeria, the risks and dangers that smoking poses to society are no longer in doubt.
Indeed, one figure alone speaks for itself: 3 million human beings die every year in the world because of tobacco! And this figure is expected to increase because an aggravating factor has developed in recent years: young people are starting to smoke earlier and earlier. Faced with this real scourge that is smoking, in addition to the laws that exist in Algeria and around the world, an immense effort of information, education and communication still remains to be provided.
This effort should be made in such a way as to ensure better awareness for effective prevention of the damage that smoking causes today to entire sections of society.
