World Children's Day
June 1, International Children's Day, is celebrated around the world. Like many countries, Algeria considers this day to be a major event of the year. To protect children, humanity has adopted a convention that Algeria, like almost all countries, has ratified. The child's right to a decent life is universally recognized as a fundamental right, in addition to those relating to education, health and access to culture.
Yet on the threshold of the 3rd millennium, malnutrition, infectious diseases, the involvement of children in wars and conflicts and their sexual and economic exploitation continue to be significant problems which, here and there, make thousands of children people with an uncertain future.
This situation is unacceptable. It encourages greater vigilance and mobilization of governments, civil societies and everyone around concrete actions and programs for development and the fight against the scourges that threaten childhood.
Algeria, like many countries, is concerned about respecting the rights of all its children. She has implemented numerous programs whose aim is to generate a dynamic of mutual aid and activate sources of solidarity for children injured by life, weakened, from deprived families or victims of violence.
