To make clothing, rugs, tents and other products, we use tools specially designed for this purpose.
Spindle
It's a kind of long-handled spinning top. The spindle consists of a round hardwood rod tapering gradually to a point at one end. Some tips have a fishhook-shaped hook on the other end.
This rod enters a small disk of wood generally made of olive wood. This tool allows you to stretch the tuft of wool downwards using a wide pendulum movement while controlling the calibration of the yarn.
wool
The use of wool as a textile fiber is widely attested from the Bronze Age in northern countries (around 1600-1500 BC), in particular by complete pieces discovered in peat bogs. Very quickly, the wool produced in the Mediterranean, fine and comfortable, was able to establish itself for export.
Wool is very useful, because it makes it possible to make strong clothing intended primarily to protect oneself from the cold and bad weather. The properties of wool are warmth, elasticity and waterproofing.
