Limodorum abortivum. Perennial plant 30 to 80 cm, glabrous, livid purple with radical, numerous and thick fibers; robust stem without leaves, equipped with sheathing scales, purple flowers with darker streaks, large erect in a long, loose spike; bracts large, equal to or exceeding the ovary; perianth open, with connivent, lanceolate divisions, the 2 inner ones smaller, labellum a little shorter than the divisions, directed forward, subarticulated, narrowed towards the base, with an oblong or concave ovoid tongue, crenate, with an awl-shaped spur, directed downwards, as long as the ovary; anther free, mobile, persistent; 2 powdery pollinia, undivided, sessile, united by a common retinacle.
