Djazair: 2003 A year of Algeria in France
Algeria is preparing to experience, throughout the year 2003, an exceptional event: twelve months dedicated to the presentation of the national heritage in all its riches and diversity throughout the French territory.
This event, called 'Djazair 2003, a year of Algeria in France', is an unprecedented opportunity for the two countries to meet, beyond all the misunderstandings that may have marked their common history, with the aim of mutual enrichment. This is the event not to be missed for the French people to discover the plural and singular dimensions of the creation of a friendly, generous and open people, hitherto little known.
'The Year of Algeria in France' promises to offer the long-awaited opportunity to all Algerian creators, living in their country or established in France, to give free rein, together, to their creative abilities, each in their chosen field. Thus, over the months and across 100 French cities, some 2000 events will take place covering all cultural activities: literature, music, theater, cinema, dance, traditional equestrian demonstrations, architecture, plastic arts, and others. Various multidisciplinary projects are also planned, including symposia, conferences, thematic tributes, etc. Also noteworthy is the mass participation of Algerian youth from both shores in this grandiose celebration.
Like other sectors, Algérie Poste joins this extraordinary event, with a significant philatelic contribution, notably the issue of two postage stamps announcing the event, as well as various philatelic events.
