Numidian Kings - Micipsa (148-118 BC)
After a succession of foreign civilizations, the Numidians, indigenous inhabitants of North Africa, created the first powerful state in their history in the 2nd century BC. Numidia is then divided into two kingdoms; that of the Massyles to the east, and that of the Masaesyles to the west.
Micipsa (148-118 BC)
One of Massinissa's three sons, born in 198 BC, he succeeded his father in 148 BC. B.C.
His reign experienced remarkable growth in different commercial, economic, military and urban areas. He died in 118 BC, leaving a powerful and vast kingdom to his two sons Hiempsal and Adherbal as well as his nephew Jugurtha, of whom he was the guardian and who showed ambitions regarding his grandfather's reign.
