World Food Day
On May 21, 2003, the earth shook in Algeria, causing thousands of victims in just a few minutes and hundreds of orphans.
However, we had to continue living and forget about it. In order to help affected children, affected children, sick or disabled children responded to the call launched by the Telefood Algeria campaign. They thus produced drawings as part of a competition whose theme was: 'I extend my hand to my stricken friend', organized by the league of educational leisure activities for children in hospitals.
The best drawings are the subject of an auction. Ten of them were purchased by a large audience, demonstrating an incredible sense of generosity and solidarity. The amount collected will be used to finance micro projects for the creation of school gardens in the earthquake zone.
The less privileged children made it possible to trigger an action, and it is up to us, adults, to carry it out. Indeed, two postage stamps representing the first two drawings awarded during the competition will be put on sale during World Food Day, October 16, 2004.
Purchasing these stamps will allow you to pay the sum of one dinar per stamp into the Telefood Algeria fund. The amount raised by the sale of the stamps will make it possible to finance even more micro projects to help communities in difficulty in Algeria.
A simple gesture within everyone’s reach can make this help possible. Everyone, therefore, is asked to go to the nearest post office.
The Telefood campaign was launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1997.
