50th Anniversary of the outbreak of the revolution
Fifty years ago, on the first of November, the Algerian people took their destiny into their own hands by writing, through their liberating struggle, one of the most illustrious pages of contemporary history.
Indeed, on November 1, 1954, men and a people, at the end of a colonial night lasting more than a century, decided to take action to put an end to the oppression, ignorance and exploitation of a country and an Algerian society anchored in its secular values.
At the origin of this unparalleled revolution is a group of six illustrious heroes who are:
Mustapha Ben Boulaid
Born February 5, 1917 in Aris (Batna).
- P.P.A activist, one of the leaders of the O.S in Aurès.
- Founding member of the C.R.UA,
- Responsible for the Aurès region, he was martyred on March 22, 1956.
Larbi Ben M'hidi
Born in 1923 in Ain M'lila.
- P.P.A activist, founding member of the C.R.U.A,
- Commander of zone 5,
- Participates in the Soummam congress,
- Responsible for the Algiers area,
- He was martyred on March 4, 1957 under torture.
Rabah Bitat
Born December 19, 1925 in Ain El Kerma.
- M.T.L.D activist and member of the O.S,
- Arrested on November 23, 1955 and released after the ceasefire,
- Minister responsible for transport in 1970,
- 1977-1990 president of the A.P.N,
- Decided on April 11, 2000.
Mohamed Boudiaf
Born June 23, 1919 in M'sila.
- P.P.A activist and leader of the O.S and founding member of the C.R.U.A,
- Arrested on October 22, 1956 during the interception of the plane of the leaders of the F.L.N, released after the ceasefire,
- President of the H.C.E in January 1992,
- Died on June 29, 1992 in Annaba.
Mourad Didouche
Born in 1922 in Algiers.
- Activist of the P.P.A then the M.T.L.D,
- Founding member of the C.R.U.A,
- Responsible for northern Constantine,
- Fallen as a martyr in January 1955.
Krim Belkacem
Born September 14, 1922 in Draa El Mizane.
- Founding member of the P.P.A and member of the C.R.U.A,
- Member of the council of the revolution since the Soummam congress,
- April 1958, Minister of Foreign Affairs (G.P.R.A),
- He chairs the Evian negotiations,
- died on October 18, 1970 in Germany.
Half a century later, the Algerian people commemorate this date which stood out as a break with a colonial order forever gone in Algeria.
No one can dispute the momentum brought by November 1 in the transformation of the nation and the landscape of the international community.
