Length 31-34 cm, wingspan 63-70 cm. Sexes similar together ash gray with purple and green highlights on neck and chest. The rump is more or less clear white, depending on the breed. The wing has pronounced black spots which stand out against the gray and form two very visible black bars.
The semi-domestic pigeons of large cities have very variable plumage. Wild subjects nest in cliffs and rocks, especially by the sea in the west and in the mountains in the east. The nest is built in a crevice or on a ledge. City pigeons nest on buildings and near ports. Sedentary, the rock kisser lays eggs in rock crevices several times a year. Also, the reproduction period extends from December to July and even August. The clutch is almost always two eggs, sometimes three.
