National Day of Persons with Disabilities
Disabled people represent a significant segment of the population of our country, there are in fact more than 1,000,000 adults and children who present, to varying degrees, a physical or mental disability.
Algeria, which has chosen a policy whose aim is to ensure a better and dignified life for all its citizens, needs all the energies and their permanent and complete mobilization to achieve the objectives assigned to development. Like other citizens, disabled people contain within themselves significant potential and significant creative energies.
The inclusion of disabled people in the circuit of economic, social and cultural development activities therefore becomes an imperative necessity, underlined in all the country's texts and in the multiple resolutions which have marked the political life of state institutions.
The day of March 14 was dedicated by Algeria to 'National Day of People with Disabilities'. The promulgation of Law No. 02.05 of May 8, 2002, relating to the protection and promotion of disabled people, ensures real care for this category of citizens who deserve special attention because we must not forget that 'no one is immune from disability'.
