Si Mohand U M'hand (19th century)
An oral poet par excellence, Mohand U M'hand, a great walker, belongs to this breed of wandering poets distributing their poetry along the paths traveled, villages and towns. He is also a marginal poet, of this own marginality which made him popular and brought him in an extraordinary way to his people, whose distress, the upheaval of values, the loss of certainties he expressed, better than anyone. Above all, he is one of the giants of resistant Kabyle poetry, refusing the colonial yoke, but who, in his helplessness, chooses wandering, synonymous with insubordination.
