Kings of the Masaesyles in 213 BC of which Siga was the first capital, Syphax participated in the second Punic war (218-201 BC). Rome, as well as Carthage, sought to reconcile with Syphax and attract him to its camp.
He chose Carthage after his marriage to Sophonisbe, daughter of Hasdrubal.
The Romans preferred his opponent “Massinissa” who fought him and captured the second capital Cirta. Syphax died in Rome in 203 BC. J-C.
