Algeria is represented at the Turin Winter Olympics by two athletes, Christelle Laura Douibi, in the downhill and Super-G (alpine skiing) events, and Noureddine Maurice Bentoumi, in the 50 km freestyle (cross-country skiing) event. The two Algerian representatives were born and settled in France. Douibi, born November 4, 1985, managed to complete the downhill event despite an injury. She is the only African athlete to participate in these games and the flag bearer of Algeria during the opening ceremony. As for Bentoumi, he did not finish the 50 km freestyle final.
