The 2nd Afro-Asian Games Algiers 2007
Algeria is preparing to host from July 28 to August 8, 2007 the 2nd edition of the Afro-Asian games as a continuation of the 9th African games.
This intercontinental event is open to the best athletes in the eight selected disciplines, qualified at the end of the DOHA Asian Games organized in Qatar from December 1 to 14, 2006 and the 9th African Games of Algiers 2007.
Supervised by the Afro-Asian Games Council, made up of members of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa and the Council of Olympic Committees of Asia, these games are placed under the high patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic Mr. Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA, under the sign of promoting the culture of peace and reconciliation.
Through this exceptional event, Algeria is committed, on behalf of Africa, to working to consolidate relations between the structures and bodies of the Olympic and sports movements in Africa and Asia.
It is at the same time a new challenge to be taken up by our country through the organization of these large-scale games, on the eve of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It is also a considerable contribution to the construction of a new international sporting order on the basis of the Algiers declaration relating to the strengthening of cooperation between public authorities and international sporting bodies.
