Landon Garden (Biskra)
The Landon garden represents a famous place in the city of Biskra located between the old and new districts of the city, it is built on a balcony over the wadi of Sidi Zerzour, known as the protective saint of the region.
This garden was created by the English earl “Jack Landon” around 1870.
The count, a nature enthusiast, worked to enrich the vegetation of this garden by the acclimatization of several essences and species that he himself brought from different regions and continents. Architecturally, the Landon garden is made up of a number of round, square, and rectangular spaces, each space housing plants and trees. The fabulous beauty of the garden has continued to captivate visitors, tourists, artists, poets and even men of letters such as André Gide, Anatole France and Robert Hitchens who wrote his famous “Garden of Allah” there which had great success. The Lardon garden was classified as municipal heritage of Biskra in 1959. The latter takes care to preserve it so that it can always keep its doors open to visitors.
