Ibn Badis Garden (Oran)
The oldest garden in Oran is undoubtedly the Létang promenade or the hanging garden, today named after Ibn Badis. The latter was created in 1836 by General De Létang who transformed the glacis of Château-Neuf into a promenade that bears his name.
On this six-hectare platform, on the site of the north and west gIacis of Château Neuf, a thousand trees were planted in a semi-circle.
This magical place continues to attract walkers with its maritime charm and freshness, its long palm trees, its plane trees three meters in diameter, its oaks more than thirty meters high, its pines, its century-old carob trees and other eucalyptus trees.
There are green groves, bushes, flowers, jasmine, honeysuckle, climbing ivy, lining the walls of the castle, fountains.
The Ibn Badis garden is made up of tiered paths with dragon trees and giant ficus trees.
