After the promulgation of the decisions of the Soummam Congress, including the creation of organizations under the National Liberation Front, such as the General Union of Algerian Muslim Students and the General Union of Algerian Workers, created respectively in July 1955 and February 1956, the National Liberation Front deemed it necessary to set up a sports organization which bears its name and which will be its ambassador in the authorities international.
The decision was therefore made to create a football team made up of Algerian players playing in the French championship. The National Liberation Front launched an appeal to all Algerian players asking them to join the ranks of the Revolution.
Following this call, the Algerian players left France towards Tunisia. Upon their arrival on April 12, 1958, the National Liberation Front football team was officially formed.
