Biskra
Biskra, or Vescera in Roman times, is located in the southwest of Algeria. Also known by the name of the city of two million palm trees, it is considered the gateway to the great south. It occupies an area of 21,671 km2 and is characterized by a Saharan climate that is hot and dry in summer and pleasant in winter. It is crossed by wadi Sidi Zarzour coming from the Aurès. On the summits of the great mountain ranges of El Kantara, the signs of the desert appear: golden grains of sand, clear blue skies and green oases all along the straight and winding roads. The inhabitants of Biskra, the siren of Ziban, are known for their hospitality and warm welcome. The region, for its part, is famous for its traditional craftsmanship and the quality of its delicious dates.
