The Algerian south, a vast territory and crossroads of nomadic and sedentary populations, had all the advantages of developing a rich and prosperous jewelry industry. Jewelers themselves contributed largely to the distribution of their products. But they chose to settle especially in large centers where the clientele was important. Jewelry from southern Algeria is often openwork and full of patterns, which gives it a certain originality.
Silver fibula from Saoura
