Road Prevention
The development of the automobile industry promotes the movement of people and their travel, however, the growth in the number of vehicles results in harmful consequences, firstly the increase in the number of tragic traffic accidents which generate hundreds of thousands of victims and millions of injured, Algeria is not spared from this scourge.
Thus, the year 2008 saw 40,481 road traffic accidents causing 4,422 deaths and 64,708 injuries of different severity thresholds, in addition to other economic losses estimated at 100 billion dinars for the year 2007.
No one can deny the efforts made by all those involved in road safety through a national policy based mainly on the human factor, on the one hand, through his education, his development and his effective training so that he becomes a perfect driver who respects the basics of safety and the highway code; on the other hand the establishment of modern methods of awareness-raising and instruments imposing respect for the law and repression against all those who commit offenses.
Despite the importance given to this factor, we must not neglect the automotive factor and the environment by applying periodic technical inspections for all vehicles.
Regarding the improvement of the environment, several works have been started, such as the development of the road network equipped with safety means to ensure the fluidity of road traffic and to resolve the congestion problem.
Unceasing efforts must be made jointly by all the organizations and sectors concerned with the aim of mitigating as much as possible the social tragedy, or even stopping the economic bleeding resulting from the misuse of vehicles in our country.
