Béni Saf Fishing Port
The fishing port of Béni Saf, located 33 kilometers from the capital of the wilaya of Ain Temouchent, is considered the first fishing port in Algeria. Initially designed for the transport of ores and goods, it was converted into a fishing port in 1986 due to the chronic silting of its basin.
This port, whose basin area is 17 hectares, was built on the site of an old lagoon. It is located at the bottom of a very open bay between the island of Rachgoun and Cape Figalo.
The fishing fleet currently numbers nearly 150 boats.
