The marvelous caves of Ziama Mansouriah, in the wilaya of Jijel, were discovered in 1917. They sink into the rock and are accessed by a staircase following a route of light which guides the visit and illuminates the cave. It is a 700 m2 space where visitors discover curious shapes to which all kinds of images can be attributed.
All around the marvelous caves is the Taza National Park, with its superb forests. The sea, the mountain and the river located nearby have made it a picturesque site and a beautiful masterpiece of nature.
When these caves are open to the public precautions must be taken for their protection. Stalactites and stalagmites, witnesses of the passing centuries, can suffer irreversible damage.
In summer, Ziama Mansouriah and the entire Sapphire Coast are a very popular destination for both national and foreign summer visitors.
