Carob tree
The carob tree is a tree native to Mediterranean regions. This tree, widely cultivated, adapts to arid slopes.
Measuring five to seven meters in height, it can exceptionally reach fifteen meters.
The trunk is large and twisted, the bark brown and rough. The carob tree is an ornamental tree with its foliage, which provides appreciated shade.
The twelve to thirty centimeter large leaves are evergreen. The flowers appear from August to October and produce carob fruit.
The carob is a fairly long hanging pod, initially green, it becomes dark brown, leathery and thick when ripe, in summer. Carob trees are used for products used in the food industry.
