Achievements
Algeria has a significant postal real estate heritage scattered throughout the territory, among these infrastructures some were inherited from the colonial period, others more numerous were built after independence in order to provide multiple services to postal customers. Among these establishments we will cite the Recette Principale d'Oran and that of Constantine, which are classified in the "exceptional class" category due to the significant traffic they handle, their character as a centralizing organization of funds and values, their geographical location (chief town of Wilaya), as well as the responsibilities they assume.
Oran - Main Recipe
Built in 1903 by the designer architect Edouard Arnand (1864-1943) in a neo-classical style and more precisely eclecticism, an architectural trend which appeared in the West between the 1860s and 1920s, which judiciously combines all materials (metal, brick, wood, concrete and stone).
The main facade has an entrance served by an iron door, a brick roof and a century-old clock on the throne.
Inside there is a large room where all postal and financial services are provided at the counters erected in a single mode.
