Achievements
Algeria has a significant postal real estate heritage scattered throughout the territory, among these infrastructures some were inherited from the colonial period, others more numerous were built after independence in order to provide multiple services to postal customers. Among these establishments we will cite the Recette Principale d'Oran and that of Constantine, which are classified in the "exceptional class" category due to the significant traffic they handle, their character as a centralizing organization of funds and values, their geographical location (chief town of Wilaya), as well as the responsibilities they assume.
Constantine - Main Recipe
Construction of the Constantine Post Office began in September 1906, after the former Minister of War had agreed to cede the location of the old surrounding wall, on the edge of Place de la Brèche. This building, which offers an imposing facade where three entry ports stand out, has the same architectural style as the Oran Recipe.
On Saturday March 7, 1908, in the presence of Governor General Jonnart, the new Post Office hotel and the land credit building, built on the site of the old market, were inaugurated. These two beautiful constructions, which framed the theater, happily completed the surroundings of the square.
