Central Army Museum
The Central Army Museum was inaugurated on November 1, 1984, on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution and in memory of its glorious past.
From the launch of work on the museum, on November 17, 1981, a group of historians, scientists and artists specializing in museology, painting and ceramics was in full activity, on the sidelines a military commission made up of the different Forces Commands and the Directorates of the Ministry of National Defense was created to provide the Museum with weapons, ammunition, equipment, outfits and documents relating to the War of Liberation.
The museum is responsible for collecting, inventorying, restoring, exploiting documents, writings, books, archives, rock drawings, sculptures, models, paintings, outfits, weapons, equipment and everything relating to the struggle of current and past Algeria to make the history of Algeria known to future generations and popularize any theme relating to Algerian military history through the organization of periodic exhibitions.
The objects are classified according to a historical chronology. The Central Army Museum has the privilege of possessing precious objects, these collections are divided according to their era: prehistoric, ancient, Muslim, modern or contemporary.
This historical monument is built on the hill of El-Madania (Algiers), it is part of the socio-cultural complex, Ryadh-El-Feth and occupies an area of 17,000m2. This place, which was the scene of several operations crowned by the victory of our heroes and, where the children of this dear homeland experienced the most savage torture of colonialism, was chosen given its historical importance.
