Algerian sheep Breed El Hamra
It is a brown-skinned animal with black mucous membranes. The head and legs are dark red-brown, almost black. The wool is white with reddish-brown ruffles. Presence of medium and spiral horns. The distribution area of this breed is located in the southwest, it is also found in the foothills of the Saharan atlas. It is considered the best meat breed in Algeria because of the fineness of its bones and the roundness of its lines. It is a breed very resistant to the cold and the icy winds of the steppes of Orania.
Three varieties make up this breed:
- The type of El-bayadh, Mecheria: dark mahogany color.
- The El-arricha type: almost black in color, it is the most efficient type, the very type of the breed.
- The type of Malakou: chott chergui, light mahogany color.
