Gate of Dar Aziza Algiers
In Algeria, craftsmanship is multiple and varied as it diversifies in its shapes, colors, styles and materials. In this rich range, wood decoration constitutes an activity which reflects aesthetic requirements and practical utility. Thus, wood was used to manufacture all kinds of works essential to daily life, as it was used in architectural work (ceiling, door, window, minbar) and in interior and exterior decoration. Among the buildings which benefit from rich and important wooden ornaments, we cite Dar Aziza Bent el Bey and the Palace of Hassen Pasha.
Dar Aziza Gate:
It is a bedroom door which features remarkable geometric shapes, finely carved in woodwork moldings with small diamonds and ornamental fleurons without any painting.
