The city of Yeosu in South Korea will host an International Exhibition from May 12 to August 12, 2012 around the theme “for living coasts and oceans: diversity of resources and sustainable activities”.
The ocean and the coast provide resources and food to humanity and regulate the global climate through the circulation of air and heat, so the exhibition will aim to bring together political decision-makers, researchers and businessmen to raise awareness of the devastating effects (overfishing, seawater pollution and others) and reflect in depth on the means of preserving the oceans and coastal zones through a new management ethic and a new relationship of humanity with its environment.
Algeria, like the 106 countries which have confirmed their participation, will be present at this major international meeting by focusing its participation on two main aspects:
- the heritage aspect
- the development aspect
In the first part, it will be a question of highlighting the heritage of our country as a former maritime power, while in the second, it will be a question of highlighting the sanitation efforts deployed by the Algerian State to preserve our coasts and our seabed against the devastating effects of pollution and climate change.
An area of 1,740,000 m2 will be devoted to the Exhibition which will welcome an average of 8,000,000 visitors.
