Sheikh Mbarek El Mili
Sheikh Embarek El Mili, called El Mili in reference to Milia, his birthplace, was born on May 26, 1889. He went to Tunis to continue his studies at the Ez-Zitouna mosque where he obtained the “Et-tataou’e” diploma.
When the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulemas was created in 1931, he was elected treasurer and became one of its most eminent members. He distinguished himself by his luminous ideas and his clairvoyance to the point of being nicknamed the philosopher of the Association of Ulemas.
Alongside his reformist activity, Moubarek El Mili was interested in writing articles in the newspaper “al Baçair” and works in history of high scientific content, notably “History of Algeria from antiquity to the present day”, he died on February 9, 1945.
