Sheikh Ahmed Hamani
Sheikh Ahmed Hamani was born on September 6, 1915, in the region of Aziar, wilaya of Jijel. He began his learning of the Koran in his native place. He was a student of Sheikh Abdelhamid Ibn Badis, before continuing his education and obtaining the “El Alamia” diploma.
He was arrested and imprisoned during the War of National Liberation, and he was not released until April 1962 thanks to the ceasefire. In 1972 he was appointed president of the High Islamic Council.
Died in 1998, at the age of 83. Sheikh Ahmed Hamani was the author of numerous fatwas, he left behind a rich repertoire, between works and preaching.
