July 22 of each year is celebrated as the Algerian police day, the central institution of which is called the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
Major recruitment and training actions were launched following independence, also marked by the construction of new infrastructures on a national scale. This reflection led to the creation of wilaya security services around which the different services were gathered (public security, judicial police, general intelligence).
Having reached a remarkable level of professionalization thanks to the experience acquired on the ground in recent years, the Algerian police today recognize the importance of focusing on a new proximity policy, aiming to get closer to the citizen, make them aware of the real missions of the security services, gain their trust and listen to their grievances. Widely used, the female element of the National Security gives great dynamism to this policy.
The celebration of the anniversary of the police constitutes a recognition of the nation towards the sacrifices of the men and women of this force who carried out their duty with loyalty in the service of the citizen and for the protection of his property.
