Paracentrotus lividus

Paracentrotus lividus is a sea urchin of the genus Paracentrotus of the order Echinoida, which is found in the Mediterranean. It can reach 7 cm in diameter. Its 3 cm long spines, thick and smooth, are purple, green or brown in color. The sea urchin is an edible species that lives on stones, coralligenous algae and rocks.
Paracentrotus lividus is mainly active at night, it feeds on red algae.
