The International Criminal Police Organization-Interpol, which was created in 1923, is considered the most important international organization active in the fight against crime. It currently includes 190 member countries.
The International Criminal Police Organization-Interpol aims to ensure mutual cooperation in a broad context between all criminal police authorities in the context of the application of the laws in force in different countries and to develop any institution capable of contributing effectively to the prevention and fight against common law crimes.
Algeria's accession to the International Criminal Police Organization-Interpol took place during the General Assembly meeting in Helsinki/Finland in August 1963, which saw the participation of 53 countries. The National Central Office carries out its functions under the direct supervision of the Directorate of Judicial Police/Directorate General of National Security.
On the other hand, the National Central Office is required to carry out its activities within the framework of a clearly defined strategy according to the needs dictated by the security situation at the national level, complying with the fundamental functions established by the International Criminal Police Organization.
Fifty-four (54) African countries are participating in the work of the African Regional Conference in addition to international observers as well as international and regional organizations. This conference aims to strengthen international cooperation efforts in the fight against all forms of crime both nationally and regionally, by combining the efforts of all the security services of African countries.
