Commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Sheikh Abdelkrim Dali
Sheikh El-Hadj Abdelkrim Dali was born on November 16, 1914 in Tlemcen in the old district of Haret Erma, he was discovered by the brave Sheikh Abdeslem Bensari followed later by Sheikh Omar El-Bakchi via Sheikh Lazaar Bendali Yahia. At the age of 14, he had already mastered the r'bab, the lute, the flute and the viola.
At the same time, he learned to correctly interpret traditional singing. He joined the orchestra of his two masters in turn and then joined the musical ensemble of Cheikha Titema.
In 1930 he made two 78 rpm disc recordings which he followed with several others until 1950 with famous poems such as “Ana el Kaoui”, “Amersouli” and “El-hadjam”.
Installed in Algiers in 1945, he joined the Andalusian classical music orchestra of the Radio directed by Mohamed EL FEKHARDJI, he participated as a lutenist musician. Thanks to this important contact, added to the advice given by the master Mahiedine LEKHAL, he is making great progress. His new contribution was the conception of a new genre which brings together the Gharnati style of Tlemcen, his school of origin, and the Sanaà of Algiers, his adopted school.
This fusion made him an undisputed master. Cheikh Abdelkrim DALI, given the intensity of his activities and his popular success, will invest in training from the year 1951 at the municipal music school of Hussein Dey.
Abdelkrim DALI entered the municipal conservatory of Algiers in 1967, a year after the death of master Mohamed EL FEKHARDJI.
After independence, he was a member of the radio and television orchestra, led by Sheikhs Abdelrezak EL FEKHARDJI and Mustapha SKENDRANI, and from 1964, a performing artist, he represented both the Gharnatie school in Tlemcen and the Senâa school in Algiers, in Algeria and abroad.
Holder of a chair in vocal and instrumental teaching, he was appointed as professor in charge of singing and classical traditional music.
In 1971, the National Institute of Music called on him as part of its research project on the national lyrical heritage; he remained faithful to this institution until the end of his days as a researcher in a field which made him a scholar.
In this capacity, he participated in the development of the famous anthological work of Andalusian music “Mouachahat oua ezdjal”, in three volumes, used in Algeria, published by SNED at the time.
It was in 1969 that he made the pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam and on his return he recorded a historical poem entitled "Rihla Hidjazia: Al hamdoulillah nelt qasdi ou blaght m'naya", which he precedes with a festive song well anchored in the spirit of Algerians, it is "saha aidkoum" song which to date has not been able to be supplanted.
