The construction of engineering structures has seen significant activity in recent years, thanks to the launch of a vast development program for the road and motorway network resulting from the orientations of the Road and Motorway Master Plan 2005/2025.
To this end, a set of the most modern engineering structures was delivered and best suited to the socio-economic needs of the country to meet travel needs and traffic development.
These infrastructures were built taking into account technical and economic aspects:
- Design rules
- The relationship with the industry
- National capacities in terms of studies and implementation.
These new works of art are part of an approach based on respect for the environmental and architectural dimension and through which companies and design offices in the Public Works sector have distinguished themselves by the quality and feasibility of their works. For this, the Public Works sector is working to research more in the art of designing and building structures, particularly for structuring projects in progress or to be launched.
These achievements can serve as educational benchmarks for students as well as trainees from schools and universities.
The Grand SALAH BEY Viaduct:
The SALAH BEY Viaduct in Constantine is an achievement which will be part of Algeria's great modern achievements in terms of large-scale works of art. This large viaduct, commissioned on July 26, 2014, will:
- Support current and future travel by ultimately ensuring rapid drainage of traffic from the city center to the East/West Highway.
- Replace the Sidi Rached bridge, in the event of its failure.
- Connect the East bank and the West bank overlooking the Rhumel gorges, the RN 3 and the railway line.
This structuring project represents a milestone in the history of major works of art built in Algeria, while making it possible to modernize the city of Constantine and improve travel.
It should be noted that this project was entrusted for study and implementation within the framework of bilateral cooperation with Brazil, following the visit of His Excellency the President of the Republic Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA, to the Wilaya of Constantine on April 16, 2007.
The Transrhumel viaduct, is of exceptional design (stayed bridge crossing the Wadi Rhumel), located in an urban site and built on slopes of geological and geotechnical complexity, tested the study and construction capacities to meet the challenge by adopting solutions that meet the technical requirements, which constitutes a technological challenge.
Given the conditions of this site, this work is accompanied by a surveillance system to monitor its behavior throughout its existence.
