Expo 2015 is a world's fair held in Milan, Italy from May 1 to October 31, 2015; this same city was already the seat of the 1906 universal exhibition with the theme of transport.
The theme that was proposed for the Exhibition around food wanted to cover everything related to food, the problem of undernutrition in certain regions of the world and that of nutrition, but also the theme of GMOs.

Initial estimates and projections stated that:

the budget for the event would amount to more than 20 billion euros of infrastructure investments: of this sum, 4.2 billion euros used directly[unclear];
during the period 2010-2015, 70,000 jobs would be created;
during the six months of the Expo, nearly 29 million tourists are expected, with a daily average of 160,000 visitors;
145 countries would exhibit;
during the six months of the Exhibition, 7,000 events would be organized for a budget of 892 million euros;
the turnover of Milanese companies would increase by 44 billion euros, an increase of 10%;
11 km2 of green spaces would be created and the navigli river network would be rehabilitated.
