The different energies
Algeria has different sources of energy, raw materials provide fossil energy while natural phenomena are sources of renewable energy.
1. Fossil energy:
Fossil energy comes from the combustion of organic matter stored in the depths of the Algerian earth. Their genesis extends over millions of years.
With a view to preserving our resources for future generations, Algeria has launched into new, clean and renewable energies.
2. Renewable energy:
Unlike fossil energy, renewable energies are characterized by the fact that they are clean and non-exhaustible. They arise from natural phenomena such as wind, water movement and solar radiation...
- Hydroelectricity: This energy is produced in hydroelectric power stations in which the movement of water will be converted into electrical energy.
- Wind energy: Vast areas of Algerian territory are crossed by a fast wind which provides a cheap and non-polluting source of energy. Generators installed at the top of wind turbines transform the mechanical energy generated by the wind into electrical energy.
- Photovoltaic solar energy: The great Sahara represents an inestimable potential for solar energy. In fact, this energy comes from the conversion of sunlight which is collected by the light sensors installed on the solar panels, into electrical energy (solar photovoltaic) or thermal energy (solar thermal, as is used in solar water heaters).
