Bourri or Big-headed Mule, whose scientific name is Mugil cephalus, can reach a maximum length of 120 cm.
It is pelagic in coastal waters and enters lagoons and estuaries. It is mainly found at the mouth of our wadis in the coastal zone where fresh and marine waters mix.
It breeds from July to October.
It can locally be the subject of aquaculture in brackish waters.
Its sexual maturity is reached in 2 years.
In Algeria, it is not the subject of targeted fishing but represents a bycatch in the Algerian artisanal fishery.
