55th anniversary of the Algerian police
Since independence, the Algerian police have gone through several stages which have led them towards modernization, development and performance.
A significant experience was supported, particularly in the fight against different forms of crime, training, a component which enabled Algerian police officers to accomplish their missions of protecting people and property, in the best conditions.
In addition to its noble missions of protecting citizens and property, the Algerian police are committed to investing in the field of awareness-raising and the implementation of preventive and proximity actions towards citizens, against the various social scourges.
The achievements made in recent years, both nationally and internationally, have enabled the Algerian police to become "a benchmark police force", in terms of respect for the principles of Human Rights, professionalism, modernization, proximity to the citizen, considered as a major element in the security equation and a co-producing level of security.
Consequently, the Algerian police have secured a place of choice on the continental scene, given the professionalism of its officers and the modern means engaged in the fight against crime in all its forms.
This progress was crowned by the inauguration of Afripol's headquarters in Algiers and the unanimous election of Major General Abdelghani Hamel, Director General of National Security, to the post of president of this high security institution, during the 1st General Assembly, held in Algeria, from May 14 to 16, 2017, in the presence of his counterparts Directors and Inspectors General of Police of the States Africans.
